Parkour envy

I just watched this video, Jump Britain, online this weekend. If you haven't heard of it before, parkour (or free running) is a relatively new sport that uses the urban landscape like a huge, industrial jungle gym. It's really cool to watch - people flying between rooftops, and running up walls. Movie producers have noticed this too and included parkour in films like Casino Royale.

I also found a website dedicated to developing a parkour community in the Lower Mainland. Check that out here if you're interested in getting started yourself.

memoirs of a teenage amnesiac

The novel "memoirs of a teenage amnesiac" is a story about a girl named Naomi, who falls down the front steps of her school and wakes up later to discover that she has forgotten the last four years of her life. She forgot her parents divorce, her best friend and even her boyfriend. I really enjoyed this book because it had drama but also romance and I also really liked the fact that music was a big part of the book and a number of good artists were mentioned.

Manga Sign Contest - The Winner!

After long and very difficult deliberations, a panel of expert judges has chosen Manuela's manga sign as the winner. Many kudos go also to Meredith, who's sign was so colourful and eye-catching, and to James, whose bold lettering drew many compliments.

Thanks to all who entered, and congratulations to Manuela! Enjoy your fabulous new tote!!!

Sooooo gooood

I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but sometimes, you're just so right to do it. Like with Holly Black's Tithe.

Fabulous cover.

Fabulous book.

If you loved the Spiderwick Chronicles a few years ago, but are looking for something decidedly more grown up, I cannot recommend this book enough. It's got grit. It's got loooove. It's got adventure. It's got faeries. I love it. I love it. I love it.

Read it. Read it. Read it.
